Never to live without passion. The future that Rafael wants for himself is encapsulated in these few words. He is the self-styled leader of the Utopia Blues Band, a rock group which it happens doesn’t yet exist; nonetheless, Rafael has already written songs for it which he knows will be hits. So sure that this is the way to the life of adventure and surprise he desires, he refuses to write the dissertation his professors are awaiting. Instead, he takes to the streets. He tries his hand at Situationism, which he finds an irresistibly appealing philosophy, with some success, by placing a ghetto-blaster in the Zurich town hall to broadcast his first compositions. But in his rebelliousness he goes too far; society, via a psychiatric institution, reminds him of the limits of what is acceptable. Taking advantage of his lightweight camera, director Haupt closely observes the wayward path this young man has chosen.
