Hello!
Can you believe we're less than ten days away from Busan International Film Festival?
By popular demand, today we've brought you a guide around Busan Cinema Center, the main venue for the BIFF 😁 Once you get to know it, it's not too complicated, so let's get going!
1. Getting to Centum City by Subway
Here's the main venue map for Centum City.
The closest subway station is Centum City Stn., you can get there by Line 2 (the green line). There are direct underground pathways if you want to get to Shinsegae Centum City Culture Hall, CGV, or LOTTE CINEMA Centum City (2 and 3 on the map), as shown below.
Shinsegae to the left, LOTTE CINEMA to the right, it's hard to miss!
You can find information regarding other means of transportation here, including bus and taxi.
Here's a bird's eye view showing Busan Cinema Center, the BIFF's main venue.
Busan Cinema Center was designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au and opened in 2011 - which was also the year the BIFF moved from its original home in Nampo-dong to its current home in Centum City.
Fun fact - did you know that Busan Cinema Center holds a record for the "longest cantilever roof in the world" certified by Guiness World Records in 2011? There's even a plaque outside the Double Cone building, you can check it out!
Here's the DOUBLE CONE, one of the main buildings. It'll be decorated and definitely be a lot busier than in this photo during the festival, what with the extra seats and the red carpet. You'll enter the DOUBLE CONE if you're visiting the Video Library.
This is the BIFF Outdoor Stage, where all the Outdoor Greeting, Open Talk and Special Talk events will be happening. The Opening and Closing ceremonies and Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards will be happening here as well!
(Psss - Can you spot the DOUBLE CONE?)
Here's how it looks lit up at night. This is also where the Opening Film, Closing Film, Gala Presentation and Open Cinema selections will be screened, with a massive scale of 5,000 seats. Make sure you get your tickets!
You can find out more about our Open Cinema selection here - don't miss the experience!
Moving swiftly to the next building - this is the CINEMOUNTAIN, home to Busan Cinema Center's largest Haneulyeon Theater, as well as Cinema 1 and Cinema 2. If your tickets lead you to Busan Cinema Center, high chance you'll be heading here.
You can also find the BIFF Ticket Box and Information Desk at the ground floor of the CINEMOUNTAIN.
Last but not least - here's the BIFF HILL, with the slanted glass entrance - don't let these pictures fool you though, as when it gets dark the glass lights up with colourful graphics!
BIFF HILL is where the Press Center is, that is the basecamp for members of press.
On the ground floor, there will be booths for everyone to enjoy!
