The poster for the 3rd Pusan International Film Festival put emphasis on the catchphrase "come to the cinematic sea," and strengthened the image of the ocean. CHOI Soon-dae, the president of the Busan Illustration Council that has been the art director of the Pusan International Film Festival since its 2nd edition, took charge of expressing such theme. The poster was finalized after about 10 months of editing and re-working. This poster, which combines an artistic approach and a design approach, emblematizes the festival as a cinematic sea of gathering along with the identity of Asian cinema through expressing the crowd approaching the cinema in the form of an oil painting. This poster was adapted to all printed materials and official advertising media of the film festival as the central means of announcing the 3rd edition and was presented to many members of the audience. The poster for the 3rd edition of the film festival deals with the subject of the intensity of the ocean and the waves in order to express the symbolic significance of the Pusan International Film Festival, which at the center of Asian cinema, as well as the representation of the dynamicism of the film festival.
