Program Note
It′s 1975. Elisabeth takes her two children and leaves her husband. She has decided to no longer suffer her husband′s aggression nor her stifling role as a housewife. Her brother Goran, who lives in Stockholm in a commune called Together, provides a roof over their heads. Elisabeth is a fairly ordinary housewife from the suburbs, but Goran is a little different. The commune where Elisabeth arrives with her children is a chaotic house inhabited with longhaired people who discuss politics, have free sex, grow vegetables and drink lots of red wine. The collision of these two separate worlds sets off a drama that will change their lives. Together is a film about people trying to live together. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn′t. It′s about love and divorce and family happiness and family unhappiness and about children and adults and friendship and sex and football.
