Director MC Chatrichalerm Yukol of Suriyothai returns to create another grand scale epic. This film series in 3 parts will be introduced this time with its 1st and 2nd parts; the 3rd part will be released in December.
In the 16th century, the son of King Maha Thammarcha of the Ayudhaya kingdom, Naresuan, grows up in Hongsawadee (present-day Myanmar) as a hostage. In 1571, Naresuan returns home and builds the new Ayudhaya kingdom. However, the new king of Hongsawadee, Nandabayin, keeps a vigilant eye on Naresuan and waits for an opportunity to get rid of him. In 1590, Naresuan becomes king in place of his father. He declares the independence of his kingdom, and prepares to face war with Hongsawadee. King Naresuan is most respected by the Thai people and his life story is told across the nation. Director MC Chatrichalerm Yukol successfully blends the humanistic aspects of the king with the complicated historical accounts, and produces an eminent achievement in directing the film King Naresuan as a majestic epic drama.
