Program Note
A melancholic film set in a desolate seaside village reflects upon the idea of love and regret. A policeman, Tan, discovers that his wife and an old friend, Lai, have fled the village together, leaving him with Lai’s daughter Sandy. It is the cause of massive emotional upheaval for Tan and Sandy, as well as the act that reveals Tan and Lai’s hidden past of forbidden love. Thirty years earlier Tan left town in order to save his family from disgrace, leaving Lai behind feeling betrayed and longing for the other man. Thirty years later their positions have changed, and now Lai leaves Tan behind. However, Tan feels his relationship with Lai is eternal, and after his abandonment decades before decides to continue to express his love for Lai in his own way. (PARK Jinhee)
