After starting his career with short films, photography, and documentaries, this is Saman Salur’s fifth feature film. In a secluded Iranian mountain village, Hassan lives with Ghader in a burnt-out and deserted train compartment. Although life in the mountains may seem dull, Hassan keeps himself entertained by allowing himself to be absorbed by pop culture he sees on the television. He befriends Asghar the Angel, who visits him regularly and keeps him company. After sustaining themselves by collecting scraps of metals, they find a new source of income operating a worn manual cable car when a bridge nearby collapses. This allows them to meet a diverse group of people as they give them rides across the river. However, they get a notice from the Railway Bureau to stop working and leave the compartment they call home, and to make matters worse, Ghader’s health deteriorates. The film follows the lives of these men who experience loneliness and the harshness of reality, but struggle to overcome them through friendship. (PARK Jinhee)
