Program Note
Rio de Janeiro on December 23rd. Gabriel’s goal is to find his father who abandoned him a few years ago. With a wrong address, he wonders around the city and gets involved in a series of events. While looking for his father, Gabriel finds a very special talent and unexpected miracle happens. The film brings the importance of love into relief by the precisely structured stories of three different couples in different situations. It is a kind of christmas tale. Universal themes like family love, sacrifice for others, recovery of humanity and reconciliation are shown throughout the film. The South American cinematic unreality and fantasy is shown well both on the base and on the surface of the story. It shows the potential ofBrazilian cinema and was invited at this year’s Guadalajara International Film Festival. (RHEE Soue-won)
