Program Note
A story about a woman who must find a way to protect her child and find a new home in the cold city streets, instead of in the dead alley in which her marriage has fallen. Mare and her young son Bruno end their odyssey through the city in front of the well decorated shopping mall and fall asleep in the car at the parking lot. Without money and seeing Bruno completely freezing in the car, Mare decides to have sex with a truck driver for money, but to no avail. Thankfully, they meet Kreso, the mall security guard who leads them into the warm interior of the mall. For Kreso, Mare and Bruno, who treat him with gratitude and affection, become like the family he yearns for, but Mare realizes that Kreso’s affection toward her son is not normal. Meanwhile, Bruno calls his father Janko and he comes to help them. Not wanting to see him, Mare ignores him and tries to start the car, but the engine is broken. (Jay JEON)
