After the fierce Bourbon repression of the 1828 uprisings in Sicily, Domenico, Angelo and Salvatore decide to join Giuseppe Mazzini’s Young Italy. Through the destinies of three young men, the film takes the audience into the nineteenth-century turbulent Italy through its journey to Unification, in four episodes. Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Italy’s reunification in 2011, a masterpiece based on Anna Banti ’s novel of the same title came to light after 7 years of pre-production. The 204-minute-long epic drama is filled with historical key events which lead up to the country’s glorious reunification. It was invited in competition of this year’s Venice Film Festival. Italian-born world star, Tony Servillo, plays Giuseppe Mazzini.
