Twelve-year old Tommy is unlike any other kid in town. He? habitually fixated on patterns - black and white tiled floors, a football, water spiraling down a drain - but any little disruption puts him in total disarray. His spontaneous unexplained behavior overwhelms his parents with stress and grief, but whatever Tommy does his 8-year old brother Jimmy is right beside him to break his spell. Patterns keep Tommy in order, but no one really understands his compulsion except for his younger brother.
