Program Note
′Eraser wrestling′ in elementary school represents a small-scale power struggle. Even with established rules, the stronger one writes new rules every time. To the eyes of Yong-Hoon, who loses his eraser
even if he wins, tyrant Kwang-Su becomes larger than life as his heartless classmates just watch on. He will not give up the battle, even if he has to borrow his sister′s eraser or steal coins from his mother,
practicing as if he′s preparing for the Olympics. His efforts in winning the battle and taking back his sister′s eraser are apparent when he bloodies Kwang-Su′s nose. After all, Eraser Wrestling isn′t an
allegory on power; it′s a daily struggle in a small classroom for Yong-Hoon, his sad dose of reality. (Cho Young-Jung)
