Program Note
When Indo-Scot Nina returns to her hometown of Glasgow to take over her deceased father`s curry restaurant, she`s surprised to find out she has a partner. Her father sold a 50 percent stake in the diner to Lisa, the daughter of the local bookie. In re-familiarizing herself with her home, Nina sets out on a mission to win the prestigious Best of the West curry competition and enlists Lisa`s help. She`s further surprised to discover that she`s falling in love with the alluring Lisa. In the tradition of [Like Water for Chocolate], [Big Night] and [Babette`s Feast] comes another film about the bonds of family, the affects of love, and, above all, the joys of food.
