Program Note
Abdullah gets a prized position from his father a harmonica. Now all the boys in the village paying Abdullah money, or bribing him with food or sweets - the boys pay for the ability to play are scrambling to get a chance to play it. Using whatever means they have necessary - from the harmonica. But Amir is poor, and has no money to pay, and no goods worth bartering with. Soon, it seems he is selling himself to play the coveted harmonica. Amir has Abdullah on his back and went to the market. Many people wondered why Amir was carrying the other boy on his back and playing the harmonica at the same time. The other friend starts to call Amir as Abdullah′s donkey. Abdullah even made a new game that let play the harmonica who je winner of the fight. When Abdullah drop his harmonica on the ground by accident, Amir took it and threw away into the water. Finally they are same as each other just like they were before the harmonica came into their lives.

Amir NADERI
Amir Naderi started his film career in Iran in the 1970s with award-winning films such as Waiting and Requiem. In the 1980s, he helped focus international attention on Iranian cinema with acclaimed works such as The Runner and Water, Wind, Dust. Based in New York City since the late 1980s, Naderi’s films have premiered at the Venice, Cannes, Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals. His other feature includes Sound Barrier(2005) which won the Roberto Rossellini Critics Prize at the Rome Film Festival and Vegas: Based on a True Story(2008).
