Program Note
The third in the human rights project after [If You Were Me] (2003) and [If You Were Me 2] (2005). The first episode, which stars the foreign migrant worker Muhammad, is enough to make one turn around and run away whenever one sees the police. Muhammad, a champion swimmer in his hometown, catches a Korean program made about him. In the second episode, the main protagonist, Sun-hee, is an orphan, and it illustrates the pain of experiencing the deep-seated prejudice that orphaned children face. The main characters in the third episode are Ho-jung, who has quit her job after getting married, and her husband, Dae-woo, who tries to pass onto Ho-jung all the responsibilities of housework and childcare. The episode captures the eternal struggle between men and women over the issue. The main characters in the fourth episode are an elementary school student, Kyung-su, who attends English classes taught by native English speakers, and his black girlfriend. The fifth episode features Ma-sun, who is the subject of rumors that he is gay at school, and Ma-teak, whom he has met at the audition for the school band. Braving the threat of becoming social outcasts, they immerse themselves in their music. The sixth episode is about Mr. Do, a worker with irregular hours. He receives a phone call from his sick mother but he cannot take time off work. His mother passes away without ever seeing her son. (Huh Moon-yung)
