Program Note
Three Korean-American women from different generations all suffer from violence at the hands of men. One woman, although under constant physical oppression, continues to live with her husband. Another, though divorced, is still fearful of her ex-husband. The third woman featured left her husband and now lives in the United States. Although they have different views on life, they share the same
problems of marriage, family, and childcare, all complicated by their experiences of domestic violence. The director, without any professional analysis, asks the women to tell their stories. The camera carefully records their tales, and through this process, viewers are able to understand their personal pain. The director demonstrates how the resolution of domestic violence depends on factors such as generation, culture, and society. (Kim Seong-Uk)
