Program Note
While living alone and working as a guide in Vietnam, Seok meets a Vietnamese woman and her son Min, and marries her. Later, Seok returns to his hometown in Busan, and begins to work at a shipyard in Yeongdo. Meanwhile, his older brother, Preacher Kim, is close to being confirmed as a pastor when he comes across Seok by chance. After the encounter, Preacher Kim’s ordinary life slowly begins to fall apart as he thinks about past events. On the other hand, Seok remembers his painful past and the family he has lost. As in his previous film, Another Night, director Choi Yongseok again talks about people with the sentiments of an outsider. There are people who want to forget the past, and a man who must face his wounds again upon his return to Busan after a long time away. In order to survive the present, they must somehow overcome the past. But how? Seok and Preacher Kim reach a point where they must help each other for their families.
