Ermanno is a poor boy in Italy. Rena, a Polish girl who is seven months pregnant, comes to Italy to sell her baby. To entrust the baby to his uncle, Ermanno has to pretend to be the father of the baby under the law of adoption between relatives. Rena′s daughter Sole is born, and Ermanno begins to take care of them like the head of a family while Rena keeps a distance from her baby.
The new director′s ability to capture social themes and complex emotions in minimalist form is beyond that of a new director. The two main characters′ struggle after sending the baby to his uncle′s house is a scene that faithfully and mournfully captures resistance to wounds and social injustice that no one can help.
