Noor wants to become a man again. Once a pious member of Khusra, a Pakistani transgender community, he doesn’t belong to the group anymore. He decides to find a woman who loves him as who he is, working at the truck decoration center. Pakistani Film <Noor> covers boundaries between two genders, man and woman, and shows how people are hurt and healed throughout their lives. Heartbroken from an unsuccessful relationship, Noor visits a lake to make a wish that he could marry a woman. Watching his journey where he meets different people, we find out how the society perceives Khusra and how deeply wounded he is. In the movie, his lonely journey is visualized as a path to seek the truth. Sometimes his truck is depicted as a small dot in a distance, a composition full of sublime beauty. The last scene of the lake hints at a possibility of the transcendent existence and love among humanity, which implies that Noor’s broken heart could be healed. (RHEE, Soue-won)
