Ana is a high-school girl playing handball. Her mother and father have divorced. Learning aerobics, her mother takes care of a relative hospitalized in an intensive care unit. In contrast, the life of her father, a dentist, is very dry. He sees if he and his ex-wife can go back to what they were ten years ago but his wife doesn′t seem to be optimistic about it. The film is a comedy describing human destiny which is sometimes not easy to accept. The camera equally focuses on the three people′s loneliness and emptiness, thus making all three main characters. Each shot was directed very carefully and the characters′ inner world is described through their silence, rather than what they say. This is a coming-of-age film, a family film and a love story. In the last scene, they seem to become one but they are still three, encouraging the audience to reflect on the true meaning of family. This is a serious but fun film which reflects the high quality of this year′s Latin American films. (RHEE, Soue-won)
