A master of horror films (Deep Red (1975), Suspiria (1977)), the director brings life to various characters and paints images with hallucinatory colors, which makes the film absorbing. This eighty-old master presents two impressive portraits in the film: the one of Diana who fights against men’s sexual and violent desires and the other of Rome to which the filmmaker is fascinated as a hideout for murderers and witches.
