Program Note
Abigail Harm is a lonely woman living in a fictionalized New York City. She reads books for the elders and the disabled for a living. After being granted a wish by a strange visitor, asks for love and learns of a creature who might provide it. It comes to earth, removes its robe, and bathes in the water. If you hide its robe, it follows you home; if you care for it, it loves you; and as long as you keep its robe, it will never leave you. Abigail remembers this story and dares to believe it could be true. <Abigail Harm> is inspired by the Korean folktale The Woodcutter and the Nymph. It is a very strange but unique film. The film is hard to understand, but maybe it is meant to be that way. The image of the film is so dreamy that it would remind you of the folk tales you heard as a child. And I also had a very weird feeling in my mind when I saw this film, but I still don’t know what it is. It was a strange experience. I think the audience will have same experience because maybe that is what <Abigail Harm> is aimed for.
