Framed within a series of strange and shocking campfire tales, <The Good Lie> tells the story of Cullen Francis, a privileged young man whose life is upended by the sudden death of his mother. Months later on his twenty first birthday, his father Bill gives him an old videotape, which his mother reveals to him the one truth she never had the strength to tell him when she was alive : he is the product of rape, a vicious and random assault which left his teenage mother in critical condition, and her attacker- a lifelong criminal named Keith Rose- in prison. The next morning, Bill wakes up to find his beloved stepson’s bed empty. Cullen has set off to confront the man in prison, but is shocked to hear that Rose was released the previous year, Cullen resolves to track down his sinsiter biological father, his heartbroken stepfather only hours behind him. The trail leads into the underbelly of the inner city, through terrifying forced march through the woods to a shalow grave, and the young suburbanite learns that the truth can be far more bizzarre than anything told around a campfire…
