Yang Luchan is born with a horn that gives him great power, but it eats away his life as much as it boosts power. A martial art called, Tai Chi, is the only way he can sustain his life. To learn it, Yang goes to a village where Chen lives, but the villagers refuse to teach it to him because Yang is an outsider. In the mean time, Zijing, with the newest modern Western technology, comes to the village over which he intends to build railroad. Will Yang be able to stop Zijing from wiping out the village? <Tai Chi O> is former actor Stephen Fung’s latest ambitious directing work. Mixing CG with animation, it proposes a new style for martial arts film. Fighting scenes are so lively that it feels like we are playing a video game. Rising stars, Yuan Xiaochao, Angelababy, Eddie Peng also bring freshness to the film. The conflict among villagers on the newly arrived Western culture is the main driver of the narrative, but the eye-catching martial arts sequences make the film very much enjoyable. <Tai Chi O> demonstrates where the contemporary Chinese martial arts films are heading.
