Program Note
This is a touching love story between a feral boy abandoned by the world and a girl who used to be isolated but opens her heart thanks to the boy. It is a also a story of a family caring for the boy as another family member. An elderly woman living in America receives a phone call from Korea, goes to her hometown in korea and tells her granddaughter what happened in the past. Her story includes not only the love and pain that she experienced but it also reflects the vivid portrait of Korean society that was going through modernization. In addition to enjoying the female character′s personal story and Korea′s historical background in the 1960′s, the audience will also be impressed by the two young movie stars. Song Joong-ki, who used to play the role of a nice-looking urban young man, transforms himself in this film. Meanwhile, Park Bo-young provides the audience with an enjoyable moment thanks to her own dynamism. Supporting actors including Jang Young-nam (the mother), Yoo Yeon-seok (the villain), Kim hyangGi (the girl′s sibling) and Lee JunHyuk (the police officer) also play their role successfully.
