Program Note
This film is an omnibus film composed of "Friday Night", "The Bridegroom" and "Smugglers" with a backdrop of Kabul. It is the first fiction film to be produced by Afghan Film. Three of the central figures from Afghan’s cultural milieu were invited to serve as directors. The adoption of capitalism and Western culture leads people to learn new desires and new ways of life. Such a change brings excitement and passion but it also causes crimes and corruption. With its theme focused on an ethical conflict, it is a film noir which contains action-driven dynamic and shadowy night streets. Its strong plotline sharply analyzes the dark side of Kabul in the 1960’s. (CHO Young-jung)
