Director Kim Sunghong, who has tried to make thrillers of Korea’s own style for years, shows a new horror thriller with an interval of three years. A middle-aged man, seemingly a successful plastic surgeon but actually a serious psychopath as well, obsesses lust for his young wife and consequently commits serial murders. In this film, it is kind of shock that Kim Changwan acts the main character of an explosive psychopath. Even though he has successfully kept the image of a good neighbor for a long time, maybe in his lifetime through, his two-faced performance in the film is so outstanding that <DOCTOR> can be said the film ‘of the Kim, by the Kim, for the Kim.’ So outstanding two-faced performance is also carried by the budding Bae So-eun acting the surgeon′s young and attractive wife. It is so tensive throughout the running time that the film may make you somewhat uncomfortable. The uncomfortableness, however, maybe directly connected with the theme of the film; duplicity of us, human being. Also, the film may sneer at Korea’s plastic surgery which is now developed too far.
