Rachel is a nine-year-old girl who is tired of her parents' excessive love and meatballs. As she waits for a day when she can be free from her parents, she meets Valerie, an audacious friend. The adults used to live a monotonous life but the two tomboys drives them crazy. Meanwhile, Rachel's strict family focusing on education falls into a crisis after her father and her friend's mother have a delicate feeling with each other. The film is a comedy in which children look at the adults' world from their own points of view. The main character is a girl from a rare background; her mother came from Tunisia and her Jewish father escaped from the Nazi concentration camp. At the beginning of the film, encouraged by her mother, Rachel meets a counselling psychologist. However, as usual, children's problems come from adults' ones. Focusing on Rachel, the film humorously depicts children's everyday life full of imagination. The mother (actress: Agnes Jaoui) and the father (actor: Denis Podalydes) add vigor to the film with their mature acting. It is also great to see Isabella Rossellini.
