Program Note
The second episode of a three-part documentary dealing with the life and work of Forugh Farrokhzad(1935-1967), the legendary Iranian poetess and filmmaker whose influence may be seen on several generations. She took a stand against Iran′s patriarchal society and her bold poetry was the first to express female desire. Although Farrokhzad died at the age of 32 in a car accident, her popularity and fame have increased over the years. These films explore her personal life, her poetry and her film career, as well as her paintings and work for the theater.

Nasser SAFFARIAN
Born in 1975 in Tehran, Nasser Saffarian studied English literature. In 1991, he began writing about cinema for a number of magazines and established himself as one of Iran’s most influential film critics. His book on Forough Farrokhzad, The Chants of Sigh, was published in 2003. THE GREEN COLD and THE MIRROR OF THE SOUL are his debut films as a director.
