Revolver Lily is director Yukisada Isao’s stunning adaptation of Nagaura Kyo’s crime novel of the same. Set against the backdrop of factional fighting within the Japanese army, the idea of a Japanese female action hero fighting against the Japanese army is unfamiliar to Korean audiences, who are mostly familiar with the war only between the Japanese Army and the Korean Independence Army.
