Gala Presentation is one of BIFF’s signature sections, showcasing new works by internationally acclaimed filmmakers and some of the year’s most talked-about films, while providing audiences with opportunities to meet their directors and leading actors. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, whose distinctive cinematic vision and sharp storytelling have captivated audiences around the globe, PARADISE LOST will make its Asian premiere at this year’s BIFF, marking its first screening for Korean audiences.
PARADISE LOST, based on the novel Black Inferno, is a mystery thriller about a missing son who returns nine years later, seemingly a completely different person. The film follows a woman plunged into profound confusion as she confronts an AI-recreated virtual version of her son and the real son who returns nine years later, changed in ways she can barely recognize. Starring KIM Hyun-joo and BAE Hyeon-seong, the film promises an immersive experience driven by Yeon Sang-ho’s signature intensity and a gripping psychological battle.
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will take place for 10 days from Oct 6 (Tue) to 15 (Thu) at the Busan Cinema Center and venues across Busan.
