The seven jurors for this year’s Competition have been announced!

A total of 13 films have been selected for the section this year. Meet the jury who will be judging them! 👏

Chinese director Zhang Yimou will lead the jury as Jury President, joined by Chinese director Bi Gan, Kazakhstani actor Samal Yeslyamova, Japanese director Ishikawa Kei, Vietnamese producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, and Korea’s Moon Choi and July Jung.

With directors, actors, and producers from across Asia, the jury brings a wide range of perspectives to this year’s Competition.

They will select the winners of the Busan Award across five categories: Best Film, Best Director, Special Jury Prize, Best Actor, and Artistic Contribution.

The winners will be announced at the Closing Ceremony.

And now, the world-renowned filmmaker behind them all, Alfonso Cuarón, is coming to Busan for his first-ever visit to Korea!

Starting with the Opening Ceremony, Cuarón will meet audiences through a variety of events, including a Special Talk following an IMAX screening of Gravity and a Master Class.

His son, director Jonás Cuarón, who co-wrote Gravity with him, will also be visiting Busan.

Following the news of Alfonso Cuarón’s first visit to Korea, here comes another exciting announcement: French screen icon Charlotte Gainsbourg is heading to Busan!

For nearly four decades, Gainsbourg has continued to reinvent herself, bringing her distinctive presence and powerful performances to a wide range of roles and establishing herself as a singular figure in French and international cinema.

At this year’s BIFF, audiences can catch a special screening of Melancholia, personally selected by Gainsbourg, followed by a Special Talk with actor Jung Eun-chae.

The Cine Class ‘Charlotte GAINSBOURG: The Muse of French Chic’ will offer a closer look at Gainsbourg’s remarkable acting career and artistic journey.

From her conversation with Jung Eun-chae to the Cine Class and a screening of Melancholia, this year’s BIFF offers plenty of ways to experience Gainsbourg’s work, both on screen and through conversation.

Back again this year, BIFF joins forces with European Film Promotion (EFP), Sydney Film Festival, and Festival do Rio for ‘EUROPE! VOICES OF WOMEN+ IN FILM’.

This year, nine films from BIFF’s official selection will be highlighted through targeted promotion and industry networking.

From period dramas and documentaries to contemporary narratives, the lineup brings together a wide range of genres and distinctive voices.

And there’s plenty more beyond the screenings!

From Outdoor Stage Greetings and Talk-to-Talk to Master Classes, Cine Classes, and Special Talks, a variety of events will bring women filmmakers from Europe and Asia together for deeper conversations and exchanges about cinema.
