APM, which has solidified its position as Asia’s most prominent investment and co-production platform, will celebrate its 27th anniversary this year and open submission for its 2024 projects.
APM selects promising new Korean and Asian projects every year, ranging from commercial films to low-budget independent films, and provides business meeting opportunities to explore investment, production, and distribution companies worldwide. As a result, APM has selected a total of 691 projects over the past 26 years, of which 295 films have been completed.
Of the past APM projects, the 2022 selection, MY SUNSHINE (Director Okuyama Hiroshi), will be screened at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard, while another 2022 selection, In the Land of Brothers (Directors Raha Amirfazli, Alireza Ghasemi), received the Directing Award: World Cinema Dramatic at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and made its Asian premiere at the 2024 Jeonju International Film Festival. In addition, the 2017 and 2021 APM selections, All Shall Be Well (Director Ray Yeung) and Shambhala (Director Min Bahadur Bham), were screened at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival, garnering much interest.
Furthermore, various APM projects premiered last year at the 2023 Busan International Film Festival, including the opening film, Because I Hate Korea (Director Jang Kun-jae / APM 2016 selection), New Currents Award winner SEPTEMBER 1923 (Director Mori Tatsuya / APM 2022 selection), Actor of the Year and CGV Award winner, Concerning My Daughter (Director Lee Mirang / APM 2019 selection), and the Korean Cinema Today - Panorama selection, Ms. Apocalypse, (Director Lim Sun-ae / APM 2021 selection), receiving high acclaim from the domestic and international media and critics alike.
APM 2024 will select approximately 30 feature-length fiction projects from Korea and Asia in all stages of production (from script development to pre-production, production, or post-production) and arrange one-on-one meetings with industry professionals. These projects will also be nominated for the APM Awards, which will provide a total of 150,000 USD in reward to the 11 awards category winners.
