Program Note
This film is a harmonious fusion of Director Lee Myung-Se′s romantic humanism and cinematographer Yoo′s sober realism, which resulted in the birth of a new kind of Korean film. My Love, My Bride is the tale of Young-Min and Mi-Young′s charming honeymoon life. The couple′s initial romance, marriage and subsequent childbirth occur in a special world created by Director Lee′s creative use of sets and animation. Like the golden street lamps which light up dark corners, Director Lees′s life-affirming imagination fills the screen. Yoo′s realist eye elegantly captures a trip that Mi-Young takes during her outing into nature. Indeed, Yoo′s sumptuous photography truly breathes life into this beautiful love story. (Lee Young-Kwan)
