Program Note
A simple but warm documentary with a simple narrative. Kiarostami asks questions about homework when his camera crew visits an elementary school in Teheran. This film is noteworthy for revealing the director′s views on the documentary form where the camera is the perfect medium to bring out sincere exchanges between people.

Director

Abbas Kiarostami
Born in Tehran in 1940, he graduated from the College of Fine Arts, and then started graphic work including film credit designs. and film advertisement. He started his collaboration with the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in 1970 and directed a short film Bread and Alley. He made his first feature film The Traveller in 1974. Taste of Cherry won the Grand Prize in Cannes last year and was shown at the 2nd PIFF.
