Program Note
This film examines in three parts: 1) women′s remarriage to survive the post-Korean war; 2) living between an accelerated desire for Westernization while respecting tradition under a military regime; 3) a gay man′s challenge to find happiness outside of marriage and the nuclear family. Investigating Korean society′s boundaries and internal contradictions, this entertaining and provocative film questions the neurosis of domination under the patriarchal family and Korea′s history of military dictatorships.
