Program Note
Kyung-mi and Gun-woo end up in a motorcycle crash during the course of an outdoor birthday party. Sungpil goes wild at his sister lying dead on the street and beats Gun-woo to a pulp. Years later, Hyun-myung, who was also at the scene, leaves the army and returns to his neighborhood. His friends welcome him back, but he does not want to see them because he has not yet recovered from past suffering. This film could be a reincarnation of Mystic River in the form of low budget Korean independent film. Mot tracks down the suffering of childhood friends through the accident a long time ago. Those involved all want to forget the tragic event, but one of their friends remains missing for many years and his father still lives in the neighborhood waiting for his son to come back. The friends want to disclose the truth, albeit belatedly, but the situation has reached an irrevocable point. Mot portrays how a small mistake snowballs into a bigger tragedy coupled with misunderstanding and hatred. (NAM Dong-chul)
