Program Note
Sang-won becomes a member of her vocational high school band called Magnolia. Members of Magnolia begin to practice with the band of neighboring boy’s high school as recommended by their seniors. As they work together, friends become competitors for love triangle at times. However, their biggest problem isn’t love affair nor grades but unclear future. Each has to decide if she will get a job upon graduating from the vocational high school or to go on to college. Setting in the beginning of 1990s, the Drawing Paper revokes the innocent emotions of the past sketching a coming of the age story of girls unlike the main stream trend. It might not be a completely new genre but the performance of the band that spices up the story of high school girls and can be considered Korean version of the Japanese film Swing Girls.
