Program Note
The scale of the world of children is broader than that of adults, because children also have access to the imaginary world while grown-ups only adhere to reality. Nevertheless, children want to become grown-ups as quickly as possible. Orz Boyz! is the story of such children and how they gradually grow out of their childhood. Elementary school kids Liar No.1 and Liar No.2 are best friends. Although they are troublemakers, they are also innocent kids who shyly like girls or want to go to a water park. However, because of some lies told by grown-ups, they have a fight and never speak to each other again. The two kids finally reunite only after they become adults. The director wants to preserve the blameless world of children for good, so he clearly depicts not only the kids’ imaginations but also their own space, which the adults can never have access to in real life. He illustrates this world with honesty, from which the charms of this film come. (KIM Ji-Seok)
