This Longing is a report on familiar things that fade away. The film consists of two stories. Sidi lives with his father in Johor Bahru near the border between Malaysia and Singapore. The location of his mother, who went to Indonesia to meet his grandmother, is unknown. Riza, who returns home, is surprised to learn that her father and grandmother have moved away. Also, Sidi’s apartment is about to be torn down. The film follows Sidi and weaves around the soon-to-be destructed apartment. Riza also films the apartment with her camera. Although it is old and shabby, it is their precious home and a place that is full of memories. Although their fathers are incompetent (Sidi’s father fishes night and day, and Riza’s father lives with another woman), their memories with their fathers are precious, too.
