Program Note
This is a movie about death and memory, made up of three parts: the present, where Wit’s spirit is looking for his hometown; the past, where he is introducing his future wife Koi to his parents; and the future, where middle-aged Koi is left alone with their two children. If the past is Wit’s memory, why does he remember that particular moment? Was it the most beautiful memory he had? Yet this memory is actually director Sivaroj Kongsakul’s. He said he had wanted to portray his own memory of his father and family, but is now giving the memory to Wit, who died three days ago, in the movie. He also tells us the simple truth: death is always lingering, but life goes on. It’s an almost philosophical essay examining the meaning of life.
