A middle-aged man finds himself and matures on a business trip that he did not want to take. At first glance, Michał seems to lack nothing: an understanding wife, a 7-year-old son, a secure job. But on his son’s first Communion, he is forced to go back to his childhood home on an errand by his boss. He wants to finish his work as fast as he can, but the trip becomes a turning point that makes him look back on his city life. The unexpected car accident, meeting with old friends, and confrontation with his estranged father all become an opportunity for him to review his life. The movie boasts no stimulating events, exciting action, or melodramatic love stories. Still, it keeps the audience in suspense with its slow rhythm and lyrical music. That’s evidence of its superiority. The connection between the beginning and the end is also remarkable. It could be used as an example of where Polish film industry stands today.
