Program Note
Taesik works at a pawnshop and one day goes in search for the kidnapped girl next door. Blood is spilled in every crime hole he finds and villains try everything they can to get rid of him. Through the encounter with Somi, who represents the innocence of the world, Taesik begins an odyssey for salvation from the pain and anger to society. Director Lee Jeongbeom portrays the struggle of a hurt man trying to return to reality through realistic actions and genre fantasy, following his last work. The close to perfect scenes of action in tight space create add to his rich style. The action packed scenes and style captures the eye so much so that it makes up for the lack of conflict between characters and conversation. Stunning visuals play a pivotal role in completing the pleasure of such genre films. (LEE Sang-yong)
