Program Note
Haehwa and Hansoo were in love when they were 18 years old in high school. However, the circumstances of her pregnancy to be taken seriously, he is gone somewhere. At the age of 23, they meet again and Hansoo tries to find their child but Haehwa is held back by past wounds. Repeating the incidents of the past, their relationship is stuck and it proves they are still immature. In a series of turbulent incidents, Haehwa becomes the only person who endures all that happens. This film deals with the deprived reality of wounded people suffering from past incidents, and reminds us late Kwak Ji-kyun’s films that describe youths in Korea since mid-1980s. Set in the freezing days of winter, this film describes a portrait of young people dealing with past wounds. (LEE Sang-yong)
