Program Note
Four friends who just turned twenty take a trip to Pohang for two days and one night, in order to spend time with Sangwu, who is to join the navy the following day. While drinking on the beach, they see a woman being beaten up by a man so they attempt to rescue her. Despite their good intentions, they are pursued by the police because it is claimed that they assaulted the man during the fracas. But then Sangwu falls into a coma after an unexpected hit-and-run incident. While the other three friends are interrogated at the police station, the man they attacked dies. The friends maintain that they didn’t hit him hard enough to kill him. To make matters even worse, the woman they tried to help falsifies her statement. Their parents try to bail their sons out and eventually find an odd point of compromise. On the one day of their youth that they believed friendship to be the most precious thing, a tragic event tears their friendship apart and ugly human nature is exposed. (NAM Dong-chul)
