Program Note
Middle-aged Aloys is a private detective working at his father’s private agency. His life is comprised of obsessive and repetitive observation of other people’s lives through 24-hour surveillance videos. When his father dies, his daily cycle is interrupted, and Aloys is no longer safe in his sheltered life guaranteed by monotonous repetition. After falling asleep drunk on the bus one day, he discovers that someone has stolen his videotapes. A mysterious woman calls and tells him that she will return the tapes if he will try an obscure Japanese invention called “telephone walking”. Aloys is drawn by her voice to experience an amazing imaginary world.(RHEE Souewon)
