Program Note
An unsolved murder occurs in a new town. Seunghoon, a physician who, after opening a clinic in Gangnam, ended up bankrupt and divorced, gets a job at his friend’s hospital and moves into a studio apt in the new town. The building is owned by Seonggeun, who runs a butcher’s and lives with his aged father who suffers from dementia. One day, when the old man is under conscious sedation for an endoscopy, Seunghoon happens to hear him murmur a murder confession. Seunghoon suspects that father and son are serial killers. In Bluebeard the horror begins at the moment the memories of serial killing flow out during the endoscopy. Seunghoon’s suspicion is rational and his fear is realistic. The red neon light of the butcher’s seems to cast light on a mixture of human flesh and blood. Seunghoon has a problem, seemingly harassed by a kind of obsession. Without any decisive evidence, he is haunted by nightmares. While Seunghoon cannot be a detective’s role, a strange man chases after him, and the truth of the unsolved murder is barely revealed.
