Four cars are driving through the northern regions of Iran. The passengers are all from different classes and have different destinations. They do not know each other, they just happen to be driving along the same road: a middle-aged man who is crying over the death of his 92-year-old father; a father whose son is inflicted with the same disease that killed his wife two years ago; a divorced man and his two sons; a wife and a lover of the same dead person. Death is what binds all these different people together. The rough roads of Iran that these desolate souls are driving on seem to be the road of life. Because of the continuing shots of roads and people inside a car, this film could be visually monotonous. But thanks to the director′s brilliant direction, watching nine people in four vehicles become mature and reconciled as they ride the roads of life is far from monotonous. This film is a minimalist road movie about the meaning of life and death. (Kang So-Won)
