Jeongbong (Lim Wonhui) and Seong-hye (Shin Soyul) left Seoul and run a guesthouse on Jeju Island. At the end of summer, unexpected guests come to their guesthouse. Ingu (Jeon Seokho), Seong-hye’s ex-lover, and Chaeyun (Jeong Yeonju), Jeongbong’s junior colleague, come to visit them. While disquieted by Ingu’s attempt to expose her past to her husband, Seong-hye senses the subtle air between Chaeyun and Jeongbong, which makes her more nervous. Then, Ingu, Chaeyun, and her friend start to learn to surf from the instructor. Director Cho Sungkyu has directed several films about the minor disturbance surrounding romance, such as The Winter Of The Year Was Warm (2012], Santa Barbara (2013), Two rooms, Two nights (2015). A light romances take place in tourist areas like Gangneung and Santa Barbara. Passing Summer also has a similar aspect, and this time, it is based on Jeju Island and the story is of two mixed couples.
