Real Love is a film about Mario, a middle-aged man, is searching for his genuine love to family, and identity. His wife, Amel, has left him and their two daughters, Nicky and Frida. Mario hovers around her, eager to get her back, taking part in a theatrical performance where she works as a lighting director. Contrary to his wishes, Amel finds a new love and has no intention of returning. Oldest daughter, Nicky, keeps the family centered, while adolescent Frida collides with Mario in everything. His job as a public servant is always beset by civil complaints. He needs a space to reflect on himself. He starts the play to be close to his wife, but discovers something new on stage. The movie takes a warm look in-depth at the close relationships between family members. Well-structured script and character psychology are defined in real. The director often uses close-ups to bring the audience to observe the delicate emotional changes of the characters. The actors deep sensitive performances captivate the audience. Real Love is the director’s second feature, won a Best Director award at Venice Days in Venice Film Festival after winning the Camera D’Or award for Party Girl (2014) at Cannes. (Erica Nam)
